business weeds

Get out of the weeds of your business.

September 16, 20243 min read

This one thing keeps dragging you kicking and screaming into the weeds of your business every time you try to put on your CEO hat and hand off client fulfillment to your team.

You haven't detailed out your fulfilment process from the perspective of the THREE human beings in the process: You, your team AND your clients.

Your team probably knows some of your basic fulfilment steps: first you onboard clients, then you work with the client, and then you offboard them.

But you defined the steps from your perspective. Or from the perspective of your team. Or from the perspective of your clients.

And even if you tried to consider all three, you made a lot of logic leaps. Who are we kidding? You are a badass at what you do! But your badassery excludes creating processes.🤷

So it's no wonder your project management templates and automations don't bring you the efficiency you expected. Now you're behind on sales and business growth activities.

Or that your team can't run fulfillment without having questions for you or occasionally messing things up with a client... You become the bottleneck and chief firefighter and fixer.

And let's not talk about dealing with client fulfillment issues like scope creep, missed deadlines, miscommunication and all the headaches and crap you have to deal with. Everything is a mess and you are tired of being tired!

But before you yield to that desire to burn it all down...let's talk about how changing your client fulfillment process can position you to get out of the weeds of delivery and truly put on your CEO hat.

Build a client fulfillment process that focuses on the needs of the three humans using it and plug the holes caused by expert bias.

How do you do that?

Build a client fulfillment process structure that looks like this... (I triple dog dare you to sing with me) 🤣

😗😗{{contact.first_name}} and [your client] sitting in a tree...K-I-S-S-I-N-G (you vibe throughout the sales process).

💑💑First comes love (that's when you decide to work together and they pay you!)

💒💒Then comes marriage (coughs) I mean onboarding...

👶👶Then comes the baby in a carriage (you work together to get a result - you plan the work, implement and give them post-implementation support)

👋👋Then comes Arnold Schwarzenegger with "hasta la vista baby!" (you offboard them - hopefully into the next phase of working with you.)

Today, we are starting an email series to break down each of these stages... so you can build a streamlined human-centered client fulfillment process that positions you to take your business to the next level with less of you in it.

Check out the next post if you've ever had a dreamy client ask for a divorce (disappear/ask for a refund/trigger a chargeback) out of the blue. Or maybe they stressed you out so much that you wanted a divorce.

It may have something to do with how you start your client marriage....(coughs) onboarding.

Here is Part 1 (this post): Get out of the weeds of your business.

Here is Part 2: Dreamy clients...wicked witch behaviors.

Here is Part 3: Going after major client projects or more clients?

Here is Part 4: Clients who behave like billboards

Here is Part 5: How the sales process is like online dating.

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention that you can get this client fulfillment process structure customized to your business in just 90-mins.
