Flamingo Fix 003: From “&itch” to Beloved: How I Built Relationships That Last and Clients That Rave

Have you ever poured your heart and soul into serving your clients, only to feel misunderstood—or worse, resented? I’ve been there. It’s one of the hardest truths to face as someone who’s passionate about helping others. But the good news? It doesn’t have to stay that way.

This week, I’m sharing a deeply personal story about my journey from being labeled as “difficult” to becoming the go-to expert my clients respect, trust, and even recommend a decade later. Let’s dive in.


The Flamingo Spotlight

At 23, I learned that my team and clients were calling me a *itch behind my back.

It crushed me.

All I wanted was to help people succeed—to serve with excellence, create impact, and see my clients thrive. But my approach wasn’t working. Clients felt pushed, not supported. They didn’t want to work with me, and the relationships we built crumbled after our time together ended.

It wasn’t sustainable, and it didn’t align with the type of leader or business owner I wanted to be.

That’s when I realized:

1️⃣ I didn’t want to work with clients who dreaded our time together.
2️⃣ I craved deeper, lasting relationships with people who trusted me and valued the journey.

I didn’t just want my clients to get results. I wanted them to enjoy the process, trust the systems we built together, and leave with a sense of fulfillment and pride in their achievements.


The Flamingo Fix (Practical Solution)

Here’s what I changed to transform how I worked with clients—and to go from being avoided to being sought after:

🌟 Get Buy-In:
Instead of dictating the process, I shifted to a collaborative approach. We set expectations together, agreed on shared goals, and ensured everyone felt invested in the outcome.

🌟 Show Real-Time Progress:
I introduced data storytelling to give clients visibility into their progress. This clarity removed guesswork and helped us have honest, unemotional conversations when accountability was needed.

🌟 Build Trust:
Tracking progress in real-time allowed me to offer the right support at the right moment—before small issues became big problems. My clients knew I had their back, which strengthened our bond and improved communication.


The Ripple Effect

The transformation wasn’t just about how my clients felt—it fundamentally changed my business:
